Acute left-sided heart failure, bovine
The entire lung is grossly enlarged in this bovine necropsy sample, with impressions of the ribs visible. Intralobular spaces are apparent, suggesting pulmonary edema. With left-sided cardiac failure from Histophilus somni–induced myocardial infarction in the papillary muscle, pulmonary congestion and edema result, as shown here.
