Photographs of a 6-year-old, 7.5-month-pregnant Holstein cow with chronic indigestion attributable to an abscess involving the reticulum and liver. A—The cow had severe abdominal distention with a papple-shaped contour as viewed from behind. B—The abscess, which was 30 cm in diameter, was lanced and drained in the 7th intercostal space on the right side under ultrasonographic guidance. C—The abdominal contour had normalized 10 days after drainage of the abscess.
