Cryptosporidium, tracheal mucosa, turkey
Photomicrograph of a histological section of the trachea of a turkey. Cryptosporidial organisms are visible within the apical aspects of the tracheal mucosa. Cryptosporidia, which are approximately 4 mcm in diameter, are intracellular but extracytoplasmic, making the organisms appear as if they were outside the host cell.
