Haemonchus contortus, abomasum, sheep
Thousands of adult Haemonchus contortus worms are evident on the mucosa between the rugal folds in the abomasum of this sheep on a postmortem exam. Heavy Haemonchus infections result in profound anemia, ill thrift, and high rates of mortality in small ruminants.
