Infectious laryngotracheitis, tracheal tissue, chicken
Photomicrographs of tracheal tissue from a healthy chicken (A) and from a chicken infected with infectious laryngotracheitis virus (B, C). In the infected chicken, sloughing of the tracheal mucosa, containing syncytia (B, arrows) and intranuclear inclusion bodies (C, arrows), into the tracheal lumen is indicative of lytic viral replication. Magnifications 200X (A, B) and 400X (C).
