Spirocerca lupi, thorax, dog

Three-year-old crossbred dog that presented with a history of lethargy, vomiting, and weight loss over the previous two months. Lateral and dorsoventral radiographs of the thorax. The caudal esophagus is focally dilated (white arrows) with a uniform soft-tissue opacity. On the ventral aspect of T6, T7, and T8, there is smooth new bone formation that does not bridge between the vertebrae (black arrows), indicative of spondylitis.
