Infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis, corneal ulceration, steers
The eyes of two different steers with infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis before (top) and after (bottom) staining with fluorescein to demonstrate areas of corneal ulceration (shown by yellow or green staining). Conjunctivitis, corneal neovascularization, and corneal edema (opacity) are present in both animals; however, the case on the left is more advanced, as demonstrated by the greater area of affected cornea and corneal neovascularization, as well as corneal stromal infiltration by white blood cells (whitish or yellow areas surrounding the ulcer).
